One-day trip to Kamakura
Lovely anime scene Kamakura
Before heading to Mt. Fuji, I wanted to visit Kamakura (for a long time, actually!) because of all the photos and reels I’d seen - the streets, the beach, and the green train. It’s sooo anime-perfect!
So I actually planned this trip around 2-3 months before arriving in Tokyo. The day after our last day in Tokyo, we’d visit Kamakura! It’s only about 1 hour and 15 minutes by train (2 trains if I recall correctly - we were staying in Edogawa, so it was a little farther compared to traveling from central Tokyo to Kamakura).
The train
I don’t remember exactly, but when we arrived in Kamakura, we had to switch to the green train. IIRC, there were only 2 trains per hour.
Scenes
Before heading to the streets where people usually take pictures, we visited the huge Buddha statue in Kamakura, then had some lunch (udon with little white fish; I think they were raw, haha). But it was pretty delicious!
Then we went to a high school where people usually take pictures. The scenery there was so nice, a lovely afternoon, and lots of people, even though we visited Kamakura on a Thursday!
Man, I really wanted to take a picture when the train arrived at the crossing, but there were 3 security guys there who wouldn’t let people step onto the street. Too bad, but understandable! They were just doing their job and keeping everyone safe and sound.
I really liked Kamakura, and I’ll definitely visit again when we go back to Tokyo - especially since I want to visit Yokohama for the first time too!
See you again soon, Kamakura!
